Attacks on Sumy region: 9-storey block hit and heavy shelling of region over past 24 hours. VIDEO&PHOTOS
On the night of 26 June, a Russian drone struck a nine-storey residential block in Sumy, causing a fire and leading to an evacuation. Over the past 24 hours, 17 communities in the Sumy region have come under attack, resulting in casualties.
According to Censor.NET, this was reported by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine and the regional police.
Strike on a residential building and evacuation of residents
In Sumy, a Russian attack drone struck the roof of a 9-storey residential block. The attack caused fires to break out, which spread across the building’s roof.
Rescue workers from the State Emergency Service arrived promptly at the scene, extinguished the fire and evacuated around 40 residents from the building.
Casualties from attacks in the Sumy region
Casualties have been reported among the civilian population in the region. In total, 17 communities in the Sumy region came under enemy fire over the past 24 hours.
In the Sumy community, five people were injured:
- men aged 66 and 37;
- a 21-year-old woman;
- a 62-year-old woman;
- a 64-year-old man.
Also injured were:
- in the Krolevets community – a 45-year-old woman following a drone strike;
- in the Novoslobodsk community – a 32-year-old woman who was injured after a strike on a residential building.
According to local authorities and the police, guided aerial bombs, attack drones, FPV drones, artillery, and mortars were used in the Sumy region. Civilian infrastructure was damaged:
- In the Sumy district, apartment blocks and private houses, cars, petrol stations, warehouses, administrative and industrial premises, and other civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged.
- In the Krolevets district, a petrol station and three private homes were damaged as a result of an enemy UAV strike.
- In the Novoslobodsk district, a private residential building, a summer kitchen, and an outbuilding were damaged as a result of a UAV strike.
- In the Hlukhiv, Trostianets, Stepanivka, Bezdrytsia, Bilopil, Vorozhba, Velykopysarivka, Mykolaiv, and other districts, residential houses, outbuildings, vehicles, warehouses, and other civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged.
