A 57-year-old trolleybus driver who sustained extremely severe injuries as a result of a Russian KAB strike on the outskirts of Sumy on June 22 has died in hospital.

This was reported by the head of the Regional Military Administration, Oleh Hryhorov, and the Sumy City Council municipal enterprise Elektroavtotrans.

What is known

As noted, at the time of the attack on Monday evening, the man was near the epicenter of the strike.

"All this time, doctors fought for his life. But the injuries were extremely severe. My sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased. Strength to endure this heavy loss," the head of the regional military administration said.

He worked at "Elektroavtotrans" for 22 years

"Doctors fought for several days for the life of trolleybus driver Vasyl Vasylovych Kryshtop, but his injuries proved too severe… Enemy strikes cut short the life of our 57-year-old colleague, who was simply doing his peaceful job and ensuring the city’s vital services," the municipal enterprise wrote.

It is reported that the man had devoted 22 years to the enterprise.

"He was very kind, polite, responsible, and always ready to help. He was respected for his exceptional humanity, sincerity, and attentive attitude toward people, and young drivers knew him as a wise teacher and mentor. We share this deep pain with his family. Forever in our hearts," the municipal enterprise added.

Background

As a reminder, on June 22, the Sumy City Military Administration reported that in the Kovpakivskyi district, a 60-year-old trolleybus driver who was traveling without passengers sustained serious injuries as a result of a Russian attack. The injured man was taken to the hospital in serious condition.
