On the night of 27 June 2026, Russian drones launched a massive strike on the Okhtyrka district in the Sumy region.
This was reported on a Telegram channel by Oleh Hryhorov, head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, according to Censor.NET.
Consequences
According to the Regional Military Administration, private homes in the town and neighbouring communities were hit, as were petrol stations.
According to military sources, the enemy deployed a large number of UAVs. Some of the drones flew at low altitudes, making them difficult to detect and shoot down.
There are casualties
- A 53-year-old woman from the Kyrykivka community has suffered serious injuries. The woman, who has burns, has been hospitalised and is currently in a critical condition. Medical staff are doing everything they can.
- A further nine people sought medical assistance. They were given the necessary treatment at the scene.
The full extent of the damage is currently being assessed.
