In Volochysk, law enforcement officers shut down an illegal gambling den that had been set up in the basement of a residential building. According to the investigation, the illegal business was organised by a 63-year-old local woman.
This was reported by the Khmelnytskyi Regional Police, as reported by Censor.NET.
Only a select few were allowed into the casino
The gambling establishment operated behind inconspicuous, locked doors. Only selected visitors were allowed inside.
When law enforcement officers arrived to carry out a search, the manager and one of the customers were present on the premises.
The police discovered personal computers with software for gambling for money, other computer equipment, CCTV cameras, mobile phones and bank cards.
Over 400,000 hryvnias were seized from the organiser
A search was also carried out at the home of a 63-year-old woman whom investigators believe to be the organiser of the illegal gambling operation. There, law enforcement officers found over 400,000 hryvnias and rough notes.
The woman has been notified that she is suspected of an offence under Part 1 of Article 203-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – illegal activities involving the organisation or conduct of games of chance or lotteries.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
