The Counter-Intelligence Directorate of the Security Service of Ukraine has detained a woman from the Cherkasy region who, according to the investigation, was working for the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) and was coordinating Russian attacks on central regions of Ukraine.

According to Censor.NET, this was reported by the SSU’s press centre.

The woman was gathering coordinates of energy facilities, Ukrainian air defence positions, administrative buildings and other critical infrastructure in the Cherkasy and Poltava regions for the Russian intelligence service.

She was looking for easy money on Telegram

According to the investigation, an unemployed resident of the Cherkasy region was recruited to collaborate with the FSB. Russian intelligence services recruited her via Telegram channels, where she was looking for opportunities to make easy money.

After being recruited, the woman regularly travelled by train to the neighbouring region. There, under the guise of going for walks, she would survey the area, identify potential targets and secretly photograph them on her mobile phone.

The agent passed on the information she had gathered to FSB representatives.

She gathered data on air defence systems and military facilities

In the Cherkasy region, according to the SSU, the suspect tracked the locations of backup command posts and other facilities where Defence Forces personnel and military equipment might be stationed.

During her reconnaissance missions, she photographed and filmed the exterior facades of military facilities.

The agent also collected the coordinates of energy infrastructure, government bodies and other critical infrastructure facilities.

SSU officers detained the woman immediately after she had filmed the outer perimeter of a Defence Forces building.

During a search, a smartphone containing evidence of her collaboration with the Russian secret service was seized from the detainee.

The woman faces life imprisonment

SSU investigators informed the detainee that she is suspected of an offence under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — treason committed under martial law.

The suspect is currently in custody without the right to bail. If found guilty, she faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

Comprehensive measures were carried out by SSU officers in the Cherkasy region under the procedural supervision of the regional prosecutor’s office.
