Today, 6 September 2026, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, held a meeting with the negotiating team ahead of a meeting with representatives of US President Donald Trump.
Zelenskyy announced this on his Telegram channel, according to Censor.NET.
Initial details of the meeting
"We are ready for talks. Ukraine has always been and will remain constructive. We are keen to bring the war to an end. Peace is needed. Security guarantees are needed. A dignified post-war peace is needed. Our proposals are ready. It is important to work in a coordinated, substantive and realistic manner. Glory to Ukraine!", the head of state said.
What led up to it
- It was previously reported that US President Donald Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner had arrived in Moscow.
- At the Kremlin, Witkoff and Kushner met with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.
- The talks lasted over three hours.
