Kharkiv customs officer nabbed accepting 290,000 hryvnia in bribe, - SBU. PHOTOS

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) jointly with the prosecutor's office have exposed employees of the customs point "Pisochyn" of the Kharkiv customs office as being on the take.

Censor.NET reports referring to the SBU press center.

"The extortioners systematically demanded money from businessmen for smooth customs clearance of goods. In particular, law enforcers detained one of the customs officials while accepting 290,000 hryvnia (about $ 10,810) in bribe from two entrepreneurs.

"Searches are currently underway in the premises of the customs point "Pisochyn." Criminal proceedings have been instituted under part 3, Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine," the statement reads.
