Ukrainian filmmaker Serhii Loznitsa won the prestigious Golden Dove in the International Competition Long Documentary and Animated Film with the film “Austerlitz” at DOK Leipzig.
As Censor.NET reports citing the festival's website, the jury justified the choice as follows: "Tranquility and beauty of his images along with excellent sound engineering allow plenty of time to think again about what happened in the center of Europe not so long ago".While receiving the award Loznytsia expressed his support for another Ukrainian director, Oleh Sentsov who is a political prisoner in the Russian Federation, Hromadske TV reports.
"Austerlitz" is a black-and-white film about people who visit the former Nazi concentration camp.
