Vasyl Stus Park opened in Warsaw. PHOTOS
The park named after Ukrainian poet Vasyl Stus has been opened in Warsaw, Poland. The opening ceremony was held by Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin, who was on a working visit in the Poland’s capital.
Censor.NET reports citing the press service of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.The event was attended by members of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland, representatives of the central and local executive authorities, Ukrainian community of Poland, and students.
"The opening of the park named after Vasyl Stus in Warsaw has become a symbol of fellowship between Poles and Ukrainians, our resistance to totalitarianism, a symbol of our dignity and freedom," Klimkin said.
He recalled the Ukrainian poet's remarks about his devotion to patriotism and struggle of the Polish people against the totalitarian communist regime in the 1980s.







As reported, Warsaw City Council adopted a resolution naming one of the city parks after Vasyl Stus on Feb. 9, 2017. The park is located in downtown Warsaw.
