The lawyer Vita Shablii who ran for the mayor post from the Svoboda party, was shot dead in the town of Dubno in the Rivne region on April 1.

The 43-year-old woman died of the received wounds, Censor.NET reports citing Rivne Vechirnie.

Shablii's husband, Viacheslav Chaika, was wounded during the shootout Chaika is a member of Svoboda party and a former chief of the Ministry of Internal Affairs department in the Rivne region. He is in a hospital in a serious condition.

According to the press service of the National Police in the Rivne region, the shootout happened in a private house at Zhukovskoho Street in the evening. The police responded to an emergency call and found a 43-year-old woman dead on the scene. Her 55-year-old husband suffered a gunshot wound and was taken to a hospital.

The representative of the National Police in the Rivne region Liubov Belash said that the police regard hostile relationship in the family as the main version of the murder, 112 TV Channel reports.

In 2002-2008, Vita Shablii worked as an assistant to the judge of the Dubno district court. Since 2008 she has become a lawyer. In 2013-2014, she was one of the Euromaidan leaders in Dubno.
