Garbage stored at the authorized dumpsite near the village of Novi Petrivtsi in Kyiv’s larger area caught fire today, May 17. The landfill is run by the municipal enterprise of the Vyshhorod District State Administration.
Censor.NET reports citing the statement by the press office of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine."The firefighters who arrived at the scene established that the fire broke out in several pockets of the waste pile, while the major fire pocket had an area of 0.5 hectares. Besides, there are several separate seats of fire with a total area of 1-1.2 hectares. The garbage dump is 6 km away from the village," the report reads.



The fire was taken under control at 4:50 p.m. Its extinguishing is underway.

One excavator, two dozers, three dump trucks and six water tankers of Vyshhorod District State Administration are involved in fire extinguishing. The State Emergency Service sent four tankers and 27 firefighters of Vyshhorod's 10th State Rescue Fire Detachment.
