Huzhva sent to pretrial detention center, his lawyer Lukash says. PHOTOS

Lawyer Olena Lukash told about detention of Strana.ua Chief Editor Ihor Huzhva after night searches in his offices.

Lukash wrote on Facebook that Huzhva has had no sleep, rest and food since 8 p.m. Thursday, Censor.NET reports.

Huzhva is kept in city police office. His lawyer, who was a justice minister during Yanukovych tenure and participated in voting for anti-demonstrators laws during the Revolution of Dignity, called it 'tortures.' She also wrote that the protocol of detention has been filed, and police was finishing a questioning of Huzhva.

Later she wrote that her client was placed in Kosohirny Lane detention center.





Chief Editor of Strana.ua online news outlet Ihor Huzhva was detained on June 22.

"Based on materials by State Fiscal Service and prosecutor's office of Kyiv, Ihor Huzhva, who demanded and received $10,000 for not publishing some damaging information about an acting politician, has been detained. The investigation possesses video and audio evidence," prosecutor general wrote back then.

Ihor Huzhva has been notoriously known for pro-Russian stance of media he heads, and has been widely known as an owner of Vesti holding, which has been conducting pro-Russian propaganda and covering activities of Russian terrorists and mercenaries.
