The detainee was involved in hiring people for working on tankers acquired by fugitive oligarch Kurchenko.

This was announced by press secretary of Prosecutor General Larysa Sarhan on Facebook, Censor.NET reports.

"Through joint efforts of the Odesa prosecutor's office, the Main department for fighting smuggling and organized crime of SBU in the Odesa region, and the National police, investigation into the criminal scheme of multimillion oil deals of Serhii Kurchenko made another significant step.

"Today in Kyiv, SBU and police officers detained another defendant in the case. His role in the crime ring was to hire teams for tankers acquired by Kurchenko," Sarhan wrote.

She added the man subsequently coordinated activities of Lahuna-Reni company, sea agents and tanker captains. The company was conducting bogus transloading of oil products through the sea port of Reni.
