Ukraine tightens security at border with Slovakia over illegal migration upsurge, - Border Guard Service

The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine decided to send additional manpower and hardware to reinforce the section of Ukrainian-Slovak border due to recent illegal migration intensification.

Censor.NET reports citing the press release of the State Border Guard Service.

The agency says the most vulnerable sections of the state border have been reinforced with additional personnel, equipment, and canine teams. The extra security measures have been introduced to assist the regular staff to prevent illegal migration and other unlawful actions until the situation improves. The border guards received the most advanced equipment making it easier to identify and detain the trespassers.

The agency said that the number of detained illegal migrants increased by 80 percent in 2017 compared to previous summer-and-autumn period.

The border guards closely cooperate with other law enforcement agencies and European colleagues carrying out joint special operations to prevent the illegal immigrants from crossing the border.
