According to official data, there are 8,500 houses in the city of Kharkiv. During the year of war, 500 of them were destroyed and cannot be restored, and 4,000 were damaged. Between February 24, 2022 and March 15, 2015, the air raid alarm sounded 1919 times in the Kharkiv region. Within the period between February 24, 2022 and March 15, 2015, 1818 residents died in Kharkiv region as a result of the Russian shelling, 216 of them were children, tells Romaliyska, reports Censor.NЕТ.
"It is 40 kilometers from Kharkiv to the border with Russia. All the houses facing north are either broken or have no windows," she states.
"The approach time (to Kharkiv from the territory of the Russian Federation - Ed.) of an С-300 missile, which is the missile most often used by Russians to shell Kharkiv now, is 30 seconds, and the air defense system does not have time to detect them and alert people," the journalist adds.
Romaliyska quotes Kharkiv Mayor Terekhov as saying that at the beginning of the war, 2/3 of the city's population left, with 400,000 residents remaining. Currently, according to the mayor's office, the city is home to 1.1 million residents.
"Universities have become one of the main targets of the Russian army. According to the regional administration, there are 24 universities in Kharkiv, and 23 of them have been destroyed or damaged by shelling," the journalist states.
According to the journalist, at least a third of the trade pavilions in Barabashovo, one of the country's largest markets in Kharkiv, were destroyed by shelling. There are also problems with the work of other businesses in the city.
