Illegal oil refinery found in Zakarpattia. VIDEO&PHOTOS
The SBU and the Economic Security Bureau dismantled a large-scale scheme of illegal production and sale of wholesale fuel in the Zakarpattia region.
This was reported by the Security Service of Ukraine and the National Police, Censor.NET reports.
"According to the available data, a deputy of the regional council, who has the status of a criminal authority in the criminal environment, was involved in organising the deal.
He is a long-time associate and godfather of Viktor Medvedchuk, and for a long time he headed the regional branch of the banned OPFL party," the statement said.
Before the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, the plant in Mukachevo was re-registered to fictitious persons.
Investigators found that the illegal diesel fuel from the plant was sold to petrol station chains without permits and taxes. All payments were made in cash and false information was entered into the documents.
During the searches, law enforcement officers seized equipment for the illegal production of fuel and tanks for its storage. They also seized almost 600 tonnes of petrol and diesel fuel worth over UAH 32 million, trucks for transporting fuel, seals, financial and business documentation, draft records, and money in various currencies worth over UAH 3.3 million. The total value of the seized items is almost UAH 150 million.
The issue of property seizure is now being resolved.
The investigation is being conducted under the articles on illegal manufacture of excisable goods and tax evasion on a particularly large scale.
