Farion stated that she does not consider Russian-speaking soldiers of Armed Forces of Ukraine to be Ukrainians: Ombudsman Lubinets appealed to Security Service of Ukraine and National Police. VIDEO
Former People’s Deputy and Ukrainian linguist Iryna Farion said that she does not consider the Russian-speaking military of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to be Ukrainians.
This was reported by Censor.NET.
On the air of journalist Yanina Sokolova's program on Channel 5, Farion said that she could not consider the Russian-speaking soldiers of Azov and the 3rd Assault Brigade to be Ukrainians.
"I can't call them Ukrainians if they don't speak Ukrainian. Then let them call themselves Russians. Why are they so crazy? Why did they reach an agreement on the Ukrainian language? They are such great patriots, show your patriotism - learn the language of Taras Hryhorovych Shevchenko," Farion said.
Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets reacted to this statement. He reminded that the violation of the equality of citizens depending on their racial, national, regional belonging, religious beliefs, disability and other grounds - is punished in accordance with Article 161 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
"I personally appealed to the relevant state authorities — the National Police of Ukraine, the Security Service of Ukraine, the National Council on Television and Radio Broadcasting to verify the specified information and take appropriate response measures," the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Commissioner for Human Rights said.
At the same time, Deputy Chairman of the Council Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence, People's Deputy Yehor Cherniev called on the SSU to check Iryna Farion's statements during martial law for criminal offenses and to take all measures to prevent any subversive activities in our rear.
"Iryna Farion publicly stated that she does not consider those of our soldiers who communicate in Russian at the front to be Ukrainians. With this blasphemy, as on me, she put a sign of equality between the occupiers and those who sacrificed their lives to defend Ukraine. In my opinion, this person has been purposefully and systematically working for a long time to split society and incite enmity between Ukrainians. Especially suspicious for me is such activity in the context of Irina Farion's Soviet past. And during the war, such actions are especially dangerous and pose, in my opinion, a threat to the national security of Ukraine," the parliamentarian stressed.
