Russian Federation says it has captured British man, Anderson, who fought on side of Ukraine in Kursk region. British Foreign Office responded. VIDEO

James Scott Rhys Anderson, a 22-year-old British citizen fighting on the side of Ukraine, was allegedly captured by Russian troops in the Kursk region of Russia.

This is reported by the BBC, Censor.NET informs.

Briton joins the "International Legion"

For example, a video published by pro-Russian telegram channels and the TASS propaganda agency over the weekend shows a man in a military uniform identifying himself as 22-year-old James Scott Rhys Anderson from the United Kingdom. The Russians claim to have captured the Briton allegedly in the Kursk region.

Speaking in a clear English accent, Anderson says he previously served as a communications officer in the British Army until 2023, when he joined the Ukrainian "International Legion" to fight Russia.

In the video, 22-year-old James Anderson is shown with his hands tied and, at one point, with tape over his eyes. The man describes his journey to Ukraine from Britain: "I flew to Krakow, Poland, from London Luton. From there, I took a bus to Medyka in Poland, to the Ukrainian border."

Reaction of the British Foreign Office

The footage has not been independently verified, and it remains unclear when and where the video was recorded.

According to the BBC, British Foreign Secretary David Lammy said: "We will do everything we can to give this British citizen all the support we can."

Asked about reports of Anderson's capture, the minister said he had "received information about this development in the last couple of days".

The British volunteer's father said he was "shocked" after his son's Ukrainian commander told him that James had been captured.

According to him, he tried to convince his son not to join the Ukrainian army, but now he fears for his safety.
