Zelenskyy on Russia’s massive attack: Russians deliberately waited for frost to make things worse for people. VIDEO
The aggressor country, Russia, deliberately waited for the frosty weather to strike at Ukraine's energy facilities.
This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in his traditional evening video address, Censor.NET reports.
He noted that on the morning of 13 December, Russia launched one of the largest attacks against the Ukrainian energy sector.
"94 missiles of various types, both cruise and ballistic. 81 were shot down. There were also almost 200 attack drones. In general, we see that the Russians tried to overload our air defence, as they always do in such massive strikes. And they also deliberately waited for the frosty weather to make it worse for people. The strike took place just as it was getting cold. This is a deliberate, cynical Russian terror against people. Each missile was aimed at a particular energy facility, and thanks to the accuracy of our soldiers and the reliability of air defence systems, we saved a lot," the Head of State said.
Zelenskyy added that power engineers and repair crews are currently working in the regions. They are working to restore the power system.
The president also said that after each Russian air attack, Ukraine needs its partners to take steps to demonstrate to dictator Vladimir Putin that his terror must not work.
"He uses missiles instead of looking for ways to end the war. It is war and intimidation that keeps the Russian 'throne' under this person. But our partners should not worry about how to ensure the stability of such individuals in Moscow, but how to guarantee stability for themselves and the world - stability and security that are only possible in peace. I am grateful to everyone who helps us bring peace closer," the Head of State said.
