In New York, a helicopter crashed into the Hudson River, killing 6 people.

It is noted that the helicopter "fell apart in midair and fell upside down into the Hudson River between Manhattan and the New Jersey boardwalk".

"The New York City Fire Department said it had received reports of the crash at 3:17 p.m. All six people on board were killed," a law enforcement official told the Associated Press.

Earlier it was reported that an American Airlines plane collided with a Sikorsky H-60 helicopter during a landing approach at Washington airport. After the crash, the plane fell into the Potomac River.
