Tu-22M3 bomber crashes in Russia’s Irkutsk region: pilot killed. VIDEO
On Wednesday, 2 April, a supersonic long-range strategic bomber-tanker Tu-22m3 crashed in Russia. The enemy is using it to shell the territory of Ukraine.
The accident was reported by the Russian media, Censor.NET reports.
The plane went down in the Usolsky district of Irkutsk region. Preliminarily, there were four people on board.
The Russian Ministry of Defence told the media that the bomber had crashed in an open area during a scheduled flight. The cause of the crash was "a technical malfunction".
The bomber's pilot was killed in the crash, and the crew managed to eject. Rescuers are looking for them.
According to Babr Mash, the plane hit a power line during the crash. Two nearby villages lost power.
According to the Shot Telegram channel, two of the four crew members survived.
It should be noted that the Tu-22M3 is a supersonic long-range strategic bomber with variable wing geometry. This aircraft has been called the "carrier killer" because it is capable of launching supersonic X-22 anti-ship missiles.
