SSU and National Police detained perpetrators of terrorist attack in Darnytskyi district of Kyiv six hours after explosions. VIDEO+PHOTOS
The Security Service of Ukraine and the National Police promptly detained three men involved in the double terrorist attack that took place on 11 December in the Darnytskyi district of the capital.
According to Censor.NET, this was reported by the SSU press centre.
The arrests took place "in hot pursuit", less than six hours after the explosions.
The perpetrators and their recruitment
According to the investigation, the terrorist attack was carried out on the orders of the Russian special services.
All those detained are Ukrainian citizens, natives of the Odesa and Donetsk regions, aged 23, 25 and 27.
As established by law enforcement, the men worked as labourers on a construction site in Kyiv and were simultaneously looking for "easy money" on Telegram channels. It was there that Russian curators contacted them.
Preparation and execution of the terrorist attack
After making the explosives, they placed them at the coordinates given to them by their handler. To broadcast and coordinate the explosion, the Russians set up mobile phones near the site of the terrorist attack, which transmitted video to the enemy online.
Both explosions occurred in an industrial area patrolled by National Guard personnel.
The first explosion occurred when two National Guard soldiers were passing by the HED. As a result, one of them was killed, and the other soldier and the location's security guard suffered injuries of varying severity.
The next explosion occurred when law enforcement officers arrived at the scene. Two more police officers were injured in the explosion.
The SSU and the National Police quickly identified the perpetrators and detained them at their place of residence.
The suspects are being charged under Part 3 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - a terrorist act that resulted in the death of a person. The article provides for long prison terms.
Operational measures were carried out by employees of the SSU Main Directorate in Kyiv and Kyiv Region, together with the Main Directorate of the National Police in Kyiv, under the procedural guidance of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office.
