Details
The suspects won tenders to clear land in the Kherson region, even though these plots were already safe and being used by farmers.
"To create the illusion of danger, the scheme’s participants dug up the soil and placed objects resembling ammunition, whilst stating false volumes of work carried out in the documents. Farmers have already given relevant testimony.
The amount of losses in the Kherson region alone is 6.3 million hryvnias. We are also investigating similar cases in the Mykolaiv and Chernihiv regions: these involve over 600 hectares and potential losses of over 53 million hryvnias," the Prosecutor General noted.
The suspects face up to 12 years’ imprisonment with confiscation of property. Preventive measures have already been imposed.
