Drones attacked chemical complex in Perm Krai of Russian Federation: industrial facility was hit. VIDEO
In Russia’s Perm Krai, drones attacked the ‘AKM’ chemical complex belonging to the ‘Metafrax’ company in the town of Gubakha.
This was reported by Censor.NET, citing Russian sources and local public groups.
According to reports, the industrial zone of the complex was the target of the attack. Local residents reported air defence activity and explosions in the vicinity of the plant.
Dmitry Makhonin, Governor of the Perm Krai, confirmed the air strike, stating that some of the drones were allegedly shot down on approach by air defence forces and mobile units.
At the same time, the Russian authorities, as usual, claimed there were no casualties and assured the public that there was no threat to the population.
What is known about the targeted facility?
The AKM (Ammonia–Urea–Melamine) chemical complex of the Metafrax company is a large, modern gas-chemical production site in the city of Gubakha (Perm Krai, Russia), which is part of Metafrax Chemicals.
AKM is an integrated production chain where three main processes are combined within a single technological complex:
- ammonia production;
- urea production;
- melamine production.
These processes are interlinked: ammonia and CO₂ are used to synthesise urea, and some of the intermediate streams and gases are recycled back into production, thereby increasing efficiency.
The plant’s products serve not only as raw materials for the civilian sector but are also a critically important component for the Russian defence-industrial complex, particularly for the manufacture of explosives, gunpowder, and artillery mines and shells. According to eyewitness accounts and data from monitoring channels, several explosions were heard on the complex’s premises following the strikes, after which a fire broke out in the area of the production facilities.
