At least six people may still be trapped under the rubble of a residential building in the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv, which was destroyed as a result of a Russian attack.
According to Censor.NET, Pavlo Petrov, a spokesperson for the State Emergency Service, reported this in a comment to Channel 5.
According to him, the search-and-rescue operation is ongoing. Rescuers are continuing to clear the rubble and search for people.
"According to the State Emergency Service, six people are currently considered missing. Rescue operations will continue until all the rubble has been cleared and until there is certainty that no one is left there," Petrov said.
Among those being searched for are a 15-year-old girl and her family
Earlier, the Mayor of Kyiv, Vitali Klitschko, reported that a 15-year-old girl and members of her family may be trapped under the rubble.
A Day of Mourning has been declared in Kyiv following the high number of casualties from the Russian attack on 3 July.
Massive shelling of Kyiv on 2 July
On the night of 2 July 2026, Russia carried out a massive combined attack on Kyiv, using strike drones, ballistic missiles, and cruise missiles. Explosions rang out for several hours, whilst air defence forces engaged aerial targets over the capital.
According to the latest confirmed reports:
- At least 13 people were killed;
- almost 90 were injured, including two children;
- more than 20 residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged;
- rescue operations continued at many locations. Searches are underway for people trapped under the rubble, including a 15-year-old girl and her family.
Several districts of the capital suffered the most damage, in particular:
- Darnitskyi;
- Desnianskyi;
- Svyatoshynskyi;
- Solomyanskyi;
- Holosiivskyi;
- Pecherskyi;
- Podilskyi;
- Obolon District.
The strikes caused numerous fires, partially destroyed high-rise residential buildings, and damaged transport infrastructure and utility networks. As a result of the attack, public transport routes in Kyiv were temporarily rerouted.
