What is known?

Since May 2025, the occupiers’ assault units have been engaged in active combat operations in the Pokrovsk direction, attempting to occupy the village of Shakove.

"On 10 October, a small infantry group that had infiltrated the outskirts of the village captured two Defence Forces servicemen, one of whom was the 34-year-old commander of one of the units. Following an interrogation, an enemy assault soldier took the man to a wooded area, where, on the orders of his superior, he killed him by firing an automatic rifle shot to the back of the head. The occupiers also shot dead the other Ukrainian Armed Forces soldier," the statement reads.

The commander was subsequently identified as a 34-year-old native of the Krasnoyarsk Krai in the Russian Federation, a rifleman with the "336th Separate Guards Marine Brigade (military unit 06017)" with the call sign "Tai".

Later, in the same area, the Defence Forces took the Russian soldier prisoner and informed him that he was suspected of committing a war crime.

Efforts are currently underway to identify another perpetrator of the crime.
