Daniel Pomo from Zimbabwe travelled to Russia to earn money but, instead of working on a farm, ended up fighting in Russia’s war against Ukraine.
As Censor.NET reports, the foreign national was tricked into signing Russian documents and then sent to the front, where he wandered near the line of contact for several days.
Pomo eventually made his way to Ukrainian troops and surrendered to soldiers of the 425th Separate Assault Regiment Skelia. The African man called the Ukrainian soldier who took him prisoner "the angel who saved him".
According to Pomo, he travelled to Russia to pick apples and was promised a salary of $700–800 per month. The money was supposed to be enough to support his family and continue his university studies.
Daniel claims that he was forced to sign Russian documents whose contents he did not understand and was subsequently taken to the war instead of a farm. His belongings and documents were thrown away, leaving him with virtually no way to return home.
The footage was published by soldiers of the 425th Separate Assault Regiment on their social media accounts.
