The day before, Russian invaders launched a massive attack on the Odesa region. According to local sources, several dozen drones and cruise missiles were spotted over the Odesa region.

Furthermore, during the attack, Russia may have used guided aerial bombs (KABs) against Odesa for the first time. However, this information has not yet been officially confirmed. There are also reports of the possible use of ‘Banderol’ loitering munitions and ‘Shahed’ rockets.
According to Serhii Lysak, head of the Odesa Military Administration, a fire broke out in the city on the evening of 31 August following a massive Russian attack; in particular, lorries were on fire in the Slobidka district.
In addition, infrastructure was damaged.
"A massive enemy attack on the city. Infrastructure has been damaged. We are establishing the details," said Lysak.
There were power cuts in Odesa
According to local social media groups, power cuts occurred in some areas of Odesa following the attack.
Andrii Kovalenko, head of the Centre for Countering Disinformation, reported in the evening that during the attack, Russian troops had targeted the city’s energy and civilian infrastructure.
