As reported by Censor.NET citing Channel 5, the peacekeepers are going to stay in Congo for a year.Parting ceremony for the Ukrainian peacekeepers was held at the base camp of the 7th Regiment of the Army Aviation corps. Luhansk-born soldier Oleksii Korshyk is one of peacekeepers. He served in the ATO zone about two years. Korshyk first volunteered to the Aidar Battalion, and then became a member of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to the peacekeeper, the preparations for the next mission lasted for two months.
"Now we must represent our country not only here on the ground, but also in the U.N. We need to make ourselves worthy and do our job despite all the hardships," he said.
As noted, the combined unit involves helicopter pilots, aviation engineers, doctors, and cooks. The Ukrainian "blue helmets" are tasked with aviation support and air reconnaissance.
Before their peacekeeping mission, the troops underwent hard training that included combat shakedown at the firing range and specific survival course.
It is also noted that all the peacekeepers took part in battles in Ukraine's east.
