At around 2:40 p.m. on April 3, a blast occurred at the Tekhnologicheskiy Institut station, in the center of Russia's second city. According to official data, nine people were killed, 43 injured, including one child. The National Antiterrorist Committee of Russia reported another improvised explosive device was found and defused at the Ploshchad Vosstaniya station.
Russia's Investigative Committee described the explosion on the St. Petersburg metro as a terrorist attack, did not exclude other versions.
Two people have been declared wanted as suspects in the attack. A three-day mourning has been announced in St. Petersburg.
