Zelensky: If Ukraine receives enough air defence systems, Armed Forces will advance much faster

Russia controls the skies because Ukraine does not have enough air defence systems. Once the allies help solve this problem, the counteroffensive will go much faster.

This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelensky in an interview with NBC News, Censor.NET reports.

"We don't have enough air defence systems, so Russia controls the sky. What will happen when we have enough air defence systems from our partners? Our troops will leave. No, they will run forward, and this (counter-offensive - Ed.) will go faster. Because we cannot use our people as meat, as the Russians do," he said.

Zelensky added that as long as the Russians control the sky and Ukraine does not have enough defence, the Armed Forces cannot move forward quickly.

"Our No. 1 request to our partners is to balance our forces in the sky. We have to wait a long time for F-16s because of training and so on, and air defence is a quicker solution. I talked about this with Biden - it is better not to give air defence systems, but to produce them together. It's expensive, and we don't need gifts. And this is important, it also means jobs," he said.
