Court sentences Yanukovych to 13 years of imprisonment

The Obolonskyi District Court of Kyiv has passed a verdict in Yanukovych treason case.

"The court has ruled to find Yanukovych guilty of committing crimes under p. 1 of art. 111, p. 5 of art. 27 p. 2 of art. 437 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and to inflict penalty in the form of 13 years of imprisonment. The decision is final!" judge Vladyslav Deviatko declared.
As reported earlier, the court was ready to hear Yanukovych’s final statement in the treason case Nov. 19, but Nov. 18, his lawyers said the ex-president had been seriously injured and was unable to make his final statement. The court allowed Yanukovych to make his final statement on Dec. 5, but he failed to do this again.
The Obolonskyi District Court of Kyiv heard the case against former president of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych charged with high treason, assistance in waging aggressive war, assistance in violation of Ukraine's territorial integrity that lead to human casualties or other grave consequences.
