Gas tariffs in Ukraine will increase in first quarter of 2015
The National Regulatory Commission in the energy and utilities sector will review the price of gas for consumers in terms of increase in the first quarter of 2015.
This is stated in the transitional provisions of the Law on State Budget 2015, published in Holos Ukrainy newspaper, Censor.NET reports citing UNIAN.
It is noted, that the review will be conducted by the National Commission for regulation in the field of energy and utilities to reduce the deficit of Naftohaz Ukrainy company.
"The National Commission conducting the state regulation in the energy and utilities sector, in the first quarter of 2015 is to revise the price of natural gas to consumers in order to reduce the deficit of Naftohaz Ukrainy public joint-stock company and ensuring the Cabinet of Ministers full funding of benefits and subsidies for the population," the provisions note.
Earlier, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arsenii Yatseniuk stated that the Cabinet intends to accelerate the transition of gas tariffs for households to market level, making changes to the current schedule of increasing energy prices by 400% by 2017.
According to the government, in 2014 the deficit of Naftohaz Ukrainy constituted $110 billion.
