US to send Ukraine new military aid package worth $400 million, including missiles for air defense systems - Sullivan (updated)

United States will send Ukraine another package of military aid, which, among other things, will include missiles for air defense systems.
This was reported by Jake Sullivan, National Security Advisor to the President of the United States, informs Censor.NЕТ referring to Interfax-Ukraine.
"Today, the United States is announcing another security assistance package for Ukraine, including an important contribution to air defense," Sullivan told reporters on Thursday.
It is noted that this package, in particular, will include missiles for HAWK and Avenger air defense systems.
"This air defense enhancement will be crucial for Ukraine as Russia continues to use Iranian-made cruise missiles and drones to attack critical civilian infrastructure," the Biden adviser said.
A list of weapons included in the $400 million package has appeared on the Pentagon's website:
- HAWK missiles;
- four Avenger and Stinger missiles;
- additional ammunition for HIMARS;
- 21,000 155 mm artillery shells;
- 500 high-precision 155 mm artillery shells;
- 10,000 120 mm mortar rounds;
- 100 highly mobile multi-purpose wheeled vehicles HMMWV;
- 400 grenade launchers;
- small arms, optics and over 20,000,000 rounds of small arms ammunition;
- explosive equipment for clearing obstacles;
- protective equipment for cold weather.
"With Russia's relentless and brutal air attacks on Ukraine's critical infrastructure, additional air defence capabilities are crucial. The HAWK missiles, which will be upgraded with funds from the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative, will complement Spain's recent commitment to provide HAWK launchers to help Ukraine meet this threat. The Avenger short-range air defense systems will also provide Ukraine with the ability to protect Ukrainian troops and critical infrastructure from unmanned aircraft systems and helicopters," the Pentagon said.
