Russian invaders continue to detain representatives of various religious denominations in occupied Ukrainian territories.

"In the Russian model, the church is only a method of conveying the necessary information to control the population, while the church works in conjunction with the Kremlin. The latter provides the controlled denominations with a monopoly in the occupied territories," the statement reads.
In particular, the NRC notes that now the Russians are subjecting a number of confessions in the occupied territories of Ukraine to repression, in particular, searches were conducted in the parishes of the OCU, GKCU and Jehovah's Witnesses. Some members of religious communities have been detained.
All this is happening against the backdrop of a meeting between the so-called head of Zaporizhzhia region Yevhen Balytskyi and Patriarch Kirill of the Russian Orthodox Church.
"At the meeting, the collaborator promised to assist Russian religious leaders in their activities in the occupied territories," the Center for National Resistance added.
