Death toll from earthquakes in Turkey and Syria reaches 7.2 thousand

As a result of powerful earthquakes in Turkey and Syria, death toll reached 7,266 people.
The data on Turkey was reported by the Turkish Defense Minister Fahrettin Koca, informs Censor.NЕТ.
"5,434 of our citizens were killed and 31,777 were injured," the Minister said.
According to AFAD, the total number of personnel involved in the rescue operations reached 60,217. 3,251 rescuers from other countries were sent to the disaster area.
According to Al Jazeera, the Syrian volunteer organization "White Helmets" stated that the number of deaths in northwestern Syria in the areas controlled by the opposition is 1020 people. Syrian regime-controlled media reported that at least 812 people were killed in government-controlled areas. Thus, the total number of deaths in Syria reached at least 1832 people.
As previously reported, on the morning of February 6, several powerful earthquakes shook the southeast of Turkey, with a magnitude of 7.7. In the afternoon, the shakes repeated, causing new destruction. Earthquakes also caused serious damage in Syria.
As of the morning of February 7, the death toll from the devastating earthquakes in Turkey and Syria exceeded 5,000 people.
