About 5 million Ukrainians do not have access to drinking water because of war, - Ministry of Environment

About 5 million Ukrainians do not have access to drinking water, another 70% of the population of our country may be left without this resource as a result of Russian shelling.
This was announced by the Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Ruslan Strilets on Facebook, Censor.NET reports.
"The Russians are using all possible levers of terror on the territory of Ukraine, including dehydration of the state.
The occupiers do not disdain any methods, and the whole world knows about it today. A peaceful sky over Ukraine is the leitmotif of the UN Conference "Water for Sustainable Development" 2023, which is being held in New York.
Such measures are extremely important for a state that is attacked daily by Russian missiles and propaganda. We often hear the wording "war in Ukraine", "because of what is happening in Ukraine" etc. in the world media. But it is important that the whole world calls a spade a spade: "because of what Russia is doing in Ukraine."
It is important to remind every day that the environment has no borders. War has no borders. the Russians came with weapons to our common home. They burn all living things on a single planet.
This year became the equator of the international decade of action in the field of sustainable resource management. We joined this global initiative and conscientiously implemented sustainable water management. Worked on creating river basin management plans. The Water Strategy of Ukraine until 2050 was adopted. We established cross-border relations with neighboring countries in the field of water resources management.
What contribution did the Russian Federation make with its war?
- 5 million Ukrainians do not have access to drinking water through Russia;
- 70% of the population of our country may be left without water because of Russia;
- As a result of the release of water from the Kakhovka reservoir, there is a threat of failure of the cooling systems of Zaporizhzhia NPP - the largest in Europe. This would mean a possible Fukushima scenario in the middle of the European continent through Russia;
- Ukraine is losing its water infrastructure as a result of constant missile attacks. Everything is through Russia.
We often say "we will not forgive". However, the enemy continues this war and does not recognize the obvious. Apologies are few. We need reparations for full post-war recovery.
Russia must pay for every destroyed square of land and every polluted drop of water.
There is no place for a terrorist organization on the map of the civilized world, it must be isolated despite the fact that it occupies one-seventh of the Earth's landmass.
Ukraine will definitely recover, and I hope the whole world will recover together with us," the minister said.
