US looking for alternatives to ATACMS for Ukraine - Milley

The United States is looking for options for long-range systems that could be transferred to Ukraine, as the ATACMS missiles will not be delivered for now.
This was announced by the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Mark Milley, in an interview with Defense One, іnforms Censor.NЕТ with reference to DW.
"From a military standpoint, we have relatively few ATACMS, and we have to make sure that we also have our own ammunition stockpile. And the range of the weapon - I think there are some exaggerations about what ATACMS can do and what it can't do... we're not providing (Ukraine - Ed.) with ATACMS right now," said Milley.
According to him, there are other systems that can provide the same range as ATACMS. "While using (rockets. - Ed.) GMLRS you can fire six shots, using ATACMS you can fire one. Although the range of ATACMS is longer, there are other systems that can have the same range. There are, for example, UAVs that can do this, and the British have several systems. So, these are things that we are looking at to give them a little bit more capability. But right now we don't provide ATACMS," added Milley.
However, the American General did not rule out the possibility of supplying such systems as ATACMS to Ukraine in the future. "I would never predict what will or will not be considered," the general said, speaking about further steps in military support for Ukraine.
