Modern aircraft can fight guided aerial bombs best - Air Force

The Russian occupiers are using guided aerial bombs along the entire front line. To counter this, means are needed that would help destroy enemy aircraft at long distances.

This was stated by the spokesman of the command of the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Yuriy Ihnat, on the air of the telethon, Censor.NET informs with reference to RBC-Ukraine.

"This is not only the south, but along the entire front line: Sumy region, Chernihiv region, certainly the eastern direction. They are attacking (with guided aerial bombs. - Ed.) everywhere. That is, there is this new threat to which to respond, to put it mildly, it's difficult because the enemy uses these guided bombs remotely, and so far with impunity," Ihnat said.

According to the spokesman of the command of the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, enemy aircraft strike from a distance of 50 kilometers from the line of battle, or from the border with Ukraine, or the sea. These same planes are currently nowhere to be found.

Every day, the enemy uses about 10-12 guided aerial bombs on the front line. Basically, it is a FAB-500 bomb, which is equipped with wings, GPS navigation and is able to fly to the target another 10-20 kilometers, and possibly more.

According to him, to counter this, Ukraine needs ground assets such as Patriot or SAMP-T.

"And the best thing is modern aircraft, for example, F-16 or other generation 4+ aircraft, capable of countering Russian aviation at long distances, which have both powerful radars and air-to-air missiles. This is the only way to counter this threat. That's why we need to turn to our partners again and again so that the process of providing Ukraine with such equipment is really accelerated," Ihnat said.
