The rescue and search operation in Uman has been going on for over 30 hours.
This was reported by the head of the Cherkasy Regional State Administration Ihor Taburets on Telegram, Censor.NET reports.
"The services worked all night. Rescuers continue to dismantle the structures and search for victims. One woman is currently missing. The main stage of work should be completed in the evening," he said.
According to Taburets, 23 people are currently known to have died. According to updated data, five children were among the dead.
"The youngest boy was only one and a half years old. Eternal memory and condolences to the families! We will avenge everyone! Five people remain in hospital, one of them is seriously injured and two are in moderate condition," the statement said.
Together with the State Emergency Service, the city authorities have set up five points of assistance to the victims in the city. As of now, 176 people have been resettled in temporary accommodation.
