Some Western politicians are urging us to give up Crimea, - Tasheva

Деякі західні політики вважають, що Україна має повністю відмовитись від зусиль звільнити Крим від російських окупантів.
This was stated by the permanent representative of the president on the peninsula, Tamila Tasheva, in an interview with the Polish publication PAP, Censor.NET reports with reference to LigaBusinessInform.
"Some Western politicians are warning us. They believe that we should completely abandon efforts to return Crimea. However, I assure you that the connection between Crimea and Ukraine is very strong, it goes back to Cossack times, and nothing will change that." Tasheva said.
According to her, a number of Western politicians, whose names she did not name, fearing "retribution" from Russia, call on the Ukrainian side to abandon plans to return the peninsula. She emphasized that it is about individual politicians, not the state. They believe that the liberation of the peninsula could allegedly lead to nuclear war.
"They claim that Crimea can indeed be returned, but the potential consequences will be huge both for the inhabitants of the peninsula and for Ukraine as a whole. In their opinion, we should completely abandon attempts to return it," Tasheva said.
She noted that there were also theses that Crimea was allegedly never Ukrainian.
"I want to refute, because Crimea was never Russian. These were colonized territories, but with historical continuity and Crimean Tatar roots <…> It is a "sacred" territory for Russia and a personal obsession of Putin, so some in the West fear that if we regain Crimea, Moscow will use tactical nuclear weapons," said Tasheva.
