Ukraine has high chances of success in counteroffensive - Pavel
Czech President Petr Pavel says Ukraine has "high chances of success" in upcoming counteroffensive, but warns of heavy losses if Russian troops effectively defend themselves.
This was stated by him in interview with Reuters, informs Censor.NЕТ referring to LeagueBusinessInform.
According to the Czech leader, there is "great hope" that the Ukrainian counteroffensive will be successful because Ukrainian troops are motivated, well-trained, experienced and "do not have the same shortcomings as the Russian army."
Pavel explained that the Russian occupiers have serious problems with logistics and morale, but the politician believes that "we should not expect a failure of the defense."
"Russia has had time to prepare a relatively high-quality and deep defense on several lines, which, if used effectively, will cost Ukraine heavy losses," the Czech president said.
At the same time, he noted that it is currently impossible to predict how much territory the Ukrainian Armed Forces can recapture, as various scenarios are possible.
"Things don't always go as we would like, but I think the chances of Ukraine's significant success are really high," Pavel summarized.
According to Pavel, Ukraine will eventually receive the Western fighter jets it needed, but they could not be delivered in time for the upcoming offensive.
