Refugees from Ukraine have decreased in Latvia: they are returning home en masse

біженці

The number of Ukrainian refugees in Latvia has decreased significantly due to the fact that many of them are returning home.

This was stated by the Minister of Environmental Protection and Regional Development of Latvia Maris Springjuks, Censor.NET reports with reference to Delfi.

In total, 43,000 Ukrainians received asylum in Latvia. The number of those who still remain in this country is decreasing significantly.

"These are educated people, people with children, they want to find a job, and also contribute to the economy. It's not that they live on social assistance, they are economically active. Yes, on the one hand, this is a burden on the economy, but it is also a contribution ", Springjuks said about the refugees who remain in Latvia.

There is no exact data on how many Ukrainian refugees have found work in Latvia, but signals from local governments show that refugees are integrating quite well into the labor market.
