F-16 will be in Ukraine, - Zelensky
President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukraine will receive F-16 fighter jets. The quantity and delivery dates are currently unknown.
He said this during a press conference following the results of the G7 leaders' summit, Censor.NET informs.
"We really worked long and hard with our partners to get the desired result - the strengthening of our skies. In addition to air defense, we are grateful for this to the United States, as leaders in support in this direction. And to our other partners. In addition to air defense of various formats, which is a global system , we're not just talking about Patriot, we're thankful for Hawk, Crotale, we're thankful for the powerful IRIST-T package, we're thankful for NASAMS. It's a really large number that's not enough to protect our skies today. But, however, part of it has to be done by aviation, and that's why we're working on the F (F-16. - Ed.) like this.
Today we have a training mission. This is the first step. Then there is an appropriate number of months for the training of our pilots," he said.
According to Zelensky, people with extensive experience will join the program in order to shorten the training process.
"I cannot say now how many planes we will manage to get. I cannot tell you exactly when it will be. We will speed it up, because it is important to us. Every day we lose people," the head of state said.
"We already have an understanding of which countries we are working with. We were working even before the F-16 training mechanism was unlocked. That is, we will have planes. I can't tell you how many yet. It's not a secret, I I really don't know," he concluded.
