Almost one-third of Ukrainian citizens do not believe that reconciliation between Ukraine and Russia is possible in coming decades. About as many do not see possibility of reconciliation at all.

This is evidenced by the results of a survey conducted by the Razumkov Center sociological service commissioned by ZN.UA, informs Censor.NЕТ.

The Ukrainians were asked "Is reconciliation between Ukraine and Russia possible?" The majority of them (68.5%) categorically rejected this possibility: more than a third (36.3%) see no prospects for reconciliation, and 32.2% chose the answer "No, reconciliation is impossible in the lifetime of the current generation."

However, there are still 21.6% of citizens in Ukraine who do not rule out the possibility of reconciliation with Russia. The percentage of respondents who hope for reconciliation "immediately after the end of hostilities" (4.1%) is lower than the share of respondents who have not decided on the answer (9.9%).

Previous polls by the Razumkov Center showed that even after the occupation of Crimea in April 2014, a relative majority (45%) of Ukrainians had a positive attitude toward Russians, and in June 2017, they were neutral. After the significant losses in the battles for Ilovaisk and Debaltseve in Donetsk Oblast in the summer of 2015, almost half of Ukrainians (47%) characterized their attitude toward Russian citizens as "warm."
