The Ukrainian state concern "Ukroboronprom" and the Czech arms company VOP CZ have agreed on the joint repair of T-64 tanks at the factory in Novy Yichyn. It will start soon.

This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of the Czech Republic, Censor.NET informs with reference to European Pravda.

The contract for the repair and modernization of T-64 tanks of the Ukrainian army was concluded on the basis of a memorandum between VOP CZ and "Ukroboronprom" dated February this year.

The exact number of vehicles that will be overhauled in the Czech Republic in the coming months cannot be specified for security reasons, as the tanks will be sent directly to the battlefield, the Czech Ministry of Defense says.

The repair will last until the end of 2023, the message specifies. The T-64s, which will go to the front in Ukraine, have been in storage for dozens of years and need complete dismantling, replacement of many spare parts and full restoration of combat capability.

This project is one of the first concrete results of cooperation after the creation of the so-called defense cluster, designed to support the creation of new Czech-Ukrainian joint enterprises to increase the production of military equipment for the needs of the Armed Forces.
