Russia tried to be the first to convene the UN Security Council over the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant explosion and blame Ukraine for the disaster, but it failed.

This was stated by Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba during a telethon, reports Censor.NЕТ with reference to Іnterfax-Ukraine.

"I think that the fact that in less than 24 hours we managed to convene a meeting of the UN Security Council, and the Russian Federation tried to put a spoke in our wheel and also began to imitate that it was allegedly Ukraine that destroyed the dam, and also began to demand the convening of the Security Council - the fact that we were able to convene the Security Council shows that three of the permanent members of the UN Security Council: The United States, the United Kingdom, and France - and these are, let's say, representatives of our main partners - are on our side and support us in this situation," Kuleba emphasized.

He added that Ukraine has used all available mechanisms to speed up the delivery of humanitarian equipment for the State Emergency Service to overcome the consequences of the dam's explosion.

As a reminder, Ukraine insists on convening a meeting of the UN Security Council and intends to apply to the International Criminal Court after the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant explosion
