Germany recognizes Russia as biggest threat in National Security Strategy

For the first time, the German government has adopted a national security strategy and named Russia as the biggest threat.

This is stated by Censor.NЕТ with reference to ArmyInform.

The strategy is based on three "central dimensions" of security policy: defense, resilience and stability. It states that "today's Russia is the greatest threat to peace and security in the Euro-Atlantic region in the near future."

"For the first time in the history of our country, we have developed a national security strategy," German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said.

According to him, this strategy is an important contribution to ensuring the security of people in Germany. "Without security, there is no freedom, no stability, no prosperity," the German Chancellor emphasized.

Scholz added that the political environment in the country has changed significantly over the past year and a half, in particular, he was referring to Russia's large-scale invasion of Ukraine and attacks on the Nord Stream gas pipeline.

"Security in the twenty-first century is more than military action and diplomacy. Russia's aggressive war against Ukraine has shown that peace and freedom do not fall from the sky. Germany's security challenges permeate all spheres of life. This applies, for example, to medicines, but also to cyberspace and water purity," said German Foreign Minister Annalena Burbock.
