Fierce battle continues, but our progress is steady - Maliar on counteroffensive

It is very difficult for Ukrainian troops to counterattack, as the occupiers have mined the fields very densely and are actively resisting, but despite this, the defenders are confidently advancing.

As informs Censor.NЕТ, with reference to UP, Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Hanna Maliar said this during a news marathon on June 14.

She noted: "We are on the offensive in several directions, but the enemy is also on the offensive in several directions. That is, as of now, we are both on the offensive and on the defense. Just in different directions. There is a very serious confrontation.

Secondly, the enemy is increasing the number of attacks - artillery, mortar and air strikes - and thus trying to stop our offensive.

In addition, for example, in the south, our troops face continuous mining of fields. So it is very difficult to advance. Yes, it is possible, slowly, if you look at the numbers, but it is a steady advance."

Malyar added that Ukrainian forces are also facing the fact that the Russians are actively using ATGMs and kamikaze drones to try to stop the counteroffensive.

"In fact, we have a very tough battle, when we are using our efforts as much as possible, and the enemy is concentrating as much of its efforts as possible to stop this (Ukrainian - ed.) offensive," Malyar said.

At the same time, she emphasized that no Russian advances were recorded on Monday and Tuesday, particularly in the Bakhmut direction.
