Ukraine negotiates with USA about ATACMS missiles, - Kuleba
Ukraine is negotiating with the United States on the supply of long-range ATACMS missiles.
This was stated by the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba in an interview with Suspilne, Censor.NET reports.
According to him, since the beginning of the full-scale war, we have had seven types of weapons to unlock.
"Each conversation was difficult. Each one started with "no". But in the end, we got everything - Western artillery, HIMARS, and Patriot, and we will get planes. And here is this topic with ATACMS," said the head of the Foreign Ministry.
Kuleba noted that this is a rare case when the US was not the first country to provide us with long-range missiles, and others stepped up, as was usual.
"Great Britain became the first country. We are working with several other countries to ensure that they also make similar decisions. The conversation with the USA on this topic continues," he said.
At the same time, the minister emphasized that the USA should be thanked for the fact that they have already done everything, because "according to all parameters, they are, remain, and will remain the number one country in terms of the amount of aid provided." "These are unprecedented volumes," he added.
ATACMS (Army Tactical Missile System) is an American operational-tactical missile system with a ballistic missile manufactured by Lockheed Martin. The military tactical missile complex, depending on the modification, hits targets at a distance of 165 to 300 kilometers, the manufacturer writes.
This is a class of surface-to-surface missiles, that is, they are launched from the ground and hit ground targets. ATACMS are not only long-range, but also highly accurate.
M142 HIMARS and M270 MLRS launchers, which Ukraine uses to defend its territory against Russia, are used to launch missiles.
